-The Lead: With less than one minute left in the game, Emma Mailman (Rutland, Mass. / Wachusett Regional), headed a bounding ball off of a corner kick to lead the Assumption Greyhounds past the Pace Setters 2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-With a little more than one minute left in the game, Victoria Stowell (Franklin, Mass. / Franklin) sent a corner kick into the middle of the field. Teammate Brooke Shatney (Weare, N.H. / John Stark Regional) first got a piece of the ball, which sent it Mailman's way. Mailman headed the ball into the top right corner of the net to put the Hounds up 2-1 with 53 seconds left in the game.
-Amanda Chadwick had tied the game at one just under two minutes before Mailman's game-winner. With both teams huddled around the net, Chadwick sent a rebound shot into the back of the net to tie the game at the 87:21 mark.
-Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) put the Hounds up 1-0 at the 85:37 mark. After a Pace defender put a piece of her body on an Assumption cross-pass, Villemaire headed the ball for her 11th goal of the season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
-Assumption held a 24-15 shot advantage, including a 17-9 advantage in the second-half. Both teams had five corner kicks. Villemaire led the Hounds with five shots.
-Villemaire now has 11 goals on the year and 46 goals throughout her collegiate career. Her 46 goals ties the school record for most goals by one player.
-Mailman's goal was the first of her collegiate career. Mailman has just two shots on goal so far this season.
-Alexis Nason (Saco, Maine / Thornton Academy) made seven saves for the Hounds and improved to 7-6-1 on the year. She is 4-0-1 in her last five games. Jade Mallea played the second-half for the Setters and made eight saves, but fell to 2-2-1 on the year. Morgan James played the first-half for the Setters and made two saves.
-The Hounds have not lost since October 2nd. They are 4-0-1 in their last five games.
-The Hounds will host Merrimack on Wednesday, October 24, at 7 p.m. It is senior day for the Hounds.
