Women's Golf Places Seventh In The Gannon Spring Invitational

The Lead: Sophomore Catherine French (Dudley, Mass./ Shepherd Hill) cut eight strokes off her first round total to take third place overall, while the team placed seventh in the Gannon Spring Invitational over the weekend in Erie, Pennsylvania. 

- French took third with a combined score of 158, just four strokes shy of first place overall. Sophomore Christine Cutting (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) took 24th place with a score of 180, while freshman Samantha Leary (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) shot a 186 to come in 30th overall.

- Sophomore Mia Rapoza (Westport, Mass. / Bishop Stang) took fourth for the Hounds and tied for 34th overall with a combined score of 192. Just four shots back, senior Alyssa Ruggieri (Cranston, R.I./Cranston West) shot a 196 to take 40th. 

French tied for second most pars in the Invitational with 22, while she and Cutting each had a birdie
- Mercyhurst took first with a combined 658 while Gannon took second with a 680. Le Moyne claimed the third spot with a 697, followed by the Gannon (B) team with a 705. Wheeling Jesuit University placed fifth with a score of 712 and just three strokes behindSeton Hill took sixth. Assumption (716), Mercyhurst (B)(722), and Clarion (714) concluded the top nine.
