Women's Golf Sits in 4th After First Day at NE10 Championships

THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Four of Assumption's five golfers were tied for 15th or better, led by junior Mia Rapoza (Westport, Mass. / Bishop Stang), as the team sits in fourth place after the first day of competition at the NE10 Championship at the Haverhill Country Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Rapoza led the Hounds by shooting a 10-over 82 to tie for ninth overall. Sophomore Christine Cutting (Scituate, Mass. / Scituate) sits in 14th with an 86.

- Catherine French (Dudley, Mass. / Shepherd Hill Regional) and freshman Samantha Leary (Hingham, Mass. / Hingham) are tied for 15th overall and third on the team with an 87 while Alyssa Ruggieri (Cranston, R.I. / Cranston West) rounded out the golfers with a 100.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Franklin Pierce owns a one-shot lead after the first day of play or Merrimack College. The Ravens shot a 310 as a group while Merrimack placed three in the top four for 311. Le Moyne sits in third at 333 while St. Rose rounds out the top five with a 359.

- The Hounds are back in action tomorrow as they compete in the second day of the NE10 Championship.
