-The Lead: Chase Gurcan (Fort Salonga, N.Y. / St. Anthony's) scored the lone goal of the contest to lift the Assumption Greyhounds over the Franklin Pierce Ravens, 1-0. The Hounds also earned their third shutout of the season with the win.


-At the 71:56 mark, Gurcan headed a corner kick by teammate Dylan Rodrigues (Naples, Fla. / Gulf Coast High School) into the back of the net to put the Hounds up 1-0. Gurcan's goal ended up the game-winner as the Hounds fought off a header by Calvin Fillios within the final minute.

-The two teams played to a 0-0 tie at halftime. The Ravens outshot Assumption 6-5 in the first-half, but the Hounds had two corner kicks to Franklin Pierce's one.


-Franklin Pierce held a 12-11 shot advantage, which included a 6-5 advantage in the first-half. Assumption held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks, outpacing Franklin Pierce, 7-2, in the second half.

-Gurcan scored his first goal of the year, while Rodrigues added his first assist of the year.

-It was the third shutout of the year for the Hounds. They are currently holding opponents to 0.4 goals per game.

-Sebastian Jimenez (Naples, Fla. / Gulf Coast High School) made six saves for the Hounds and earned his third shutout on the year while improving to 4-1-0. The Ravens' Jadel Poon-Lewis made three saves but fell to 1-5-0 on the year.


The Hounds face Southern New Hampshire on the road on Wednesday, September 19 at 7 p.m.
