Men’s Soccer Picked 11th in NE10 Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Assumption College Men's Soccer team was picked 11th in the Northeast-10 Preseason Poll in a vote of the league's 14 head coaches, as announced by the conference on Friday.

The Hounds received 42 points and was just a spot behind Stonehill who took 10th with 58. Merrimack was voted as the preseason favorite with 158 points and five first place votes while Adephi also had five first place votes and totaled 155 points. Southern Connecticut (139), Southern New Hampshire (138) and Le Moyne (131) rounded out the top five.

Last season Assumption went 5-11-1, with six of its 11 losses by a single goal. The Hounds some starters from a season ago, but do welcome in first-year head coach Chris Payne to lead a team which averaged 1.1 goals per game last year while posting a 1.77 GAA.

Assumption opens its season on Aug. 30 when the team travels to face Post University at 5 p.m.
