-The Lead: The Assumption College men's golf team placed first overall at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational on Saturday with a team score of 586. Junior Andrew Sanzaro (Wethersfield, Conn. / Wethersfield) led all golfers, shooting a 140 over the two rounds for first place out of over 90 participants at Lake Shore Yacht & Country Club in Cicero, N.Y. The Hounds finished tied in first place with Laval University.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sanzaro placed first overall shooting a 70 in each round to lead the Hounds to their first place finish on Saturday. Sophomore Lucas Roop (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) finished 11th, shooting a 75 on Friday and dropping four strokes to a 71 on Saturday for a final score of 146. Senior Mark Bryant (Hardwick, N.J. / North Warren Regional) was right begind Roop, tied for 12th with a 147. He shot a 74 in round one and a 73 in round two. Senior Zach Magarian (Worcester, Mass. / West Boylston) took 43rd place overall and held Assumption's fourth best score of the tournament with a 153. Junior Ryan Fillebrown (Ayer, Mass. / Saint Bernard's) rounded out the five with a 158, tied for 64th overall.
-Laval University tied with Assumption for first place overall, posting a team score of 586. Concordia, Le Moyne, and Southern New Hampshire all tied for third place with scores of 589. Bentley (590) took 6th place, followed by Franklin Pierce (593) in 7th, Post (596) in 8th, Goldey-Beacom (602) in 9th, and Felician (605) in 10th. Roberts Wesleyan (609), Dominican (617), Saint Rose (618), Saint Anselm (633), and Adelphi (650) finished in 11th-15th place respectively.
