Trevor Cooley pitched the eighth and struck out two while Riley Sorenson finished off the ninth by forcing a double play to complete the shutout.

-Assumption had an opportunity to strike in the fifth inning when Jared Brescia (Brentwood, N.H. / Exeter) singled to load the bases with one out. However, Monagle got the next two batters swinging and then looking to end the threat. The Hounds also had runners on first and second in the sixth with one out. Matt Lonardo (Cranston, RI / Cranston High School) moved them both into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt, but Monagle got the Hounds swinging to end another Assumption threat.

-The Hounds kept it close until the fifth inning. With Assumption down only 4-0, Merrimack's Nick Shumski extended the lead to five on a fielder's choice and error. With two outs and the bases loaded, Kurtis Stadnicki cleared the bases with a double down the right field line, putting Merrimack on top 8-0. William Keegan finished off the Warriors' five-run fifth with a single to score Stadnicki, moving Merrimack's lead to 9-0.

-Brendan Desautels (Holden, Mass. / Holy Name Central Catholic) picked up the loss for the Hounds, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and six walks while striking out four in 3 2/3 innings of work. Ryan Graham (East Bridgewater, Mass. / East Bridgewater High School) pitched a scoreless eighth while giving up two hits.

-The Hounds had 10 hits as a team but left all 10 on base. Seven players collected at least one hit, with three players collecting two hits each. Dillon Koster (Woburn, Mass. / Woburn / Marist College) was one of three Hounds to collect two hits, going 2-for-4, which now gives him six multi-hit games so far this season and three in his last four games.

-Merrimack had 10 hits as well to go along with seven walks. Keegan led the team by going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and one walk. Monagle improved to 5-0 by earning the win. The Hounds defeated Merrimack 4-3 in 10 innings the last time Monagle took the mound against them. He left with the game tied at three after seven innings of work, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks. Desautels had also started that game for the Hounds back on April 2.
