Fierimonte Shines at 30th Annual Shacklette Invitational

Manchester, N.H. (September 10) -- Freshman Tony Fierimonte led the Greyhounds for the second straight week as the rookie placed third among 62 finishers at the 30th Annual Shacklette Invitational. The Greyhounds placed third as a team among seven schools with 80 total points. Stonehill captured the team title with 24 points, placing six runners among the top 10.

Fierimonte, the second freshman finisher overall, crossed the line in a time of 27:05 over the eight-kilometer (five mile) course. All five scoring runners for Assumption placed among the top 25 finishers in the race. Freshman Sean Phayre was 18th in 28:29, followed by senior Chris Trajkovski in 19th with a time of 28:30. Placing 20th was freshman Erich Grosse with a time of 28:38, along with freshman Bobby Finnegan in 25th with a finish time of 29:03.

Other Assumption finishers included freshman David Rondinone (39th - 30:49), sophomore Michael Weselcouch (42nd - 31:16), freshman Christian Malarsie (44th - 31:29), sophomore Adam Mailhot (55th - 35:22) and freshman Kevin Swenson (59th - 39:44).

Assumption is back in action on Saturday, September 17th as the Greyhounds travel to UMass Dartmouth for the Shriners Invitational.
