Hounds Place 20th at Shriners Invitational

North Dartmouth, Mass. (September 15) -- With five newcomers finishing among the top eight Assumption finishers, the Assumption women's cross country team finished 20th out of 38 teams at the UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational on Saturday morning.

Freshmen Mara Footit (Wilbraham, Mass./Cathedral) and Lili Urso (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) both finished in 20:05, running a pace of 6:28 for the race. Footit placed 78th, while Urso was 79th out of 293 runners. Freshman Kayla Hogan (Bridgewater, Mass./Cardinal Spellman) placed 144th in 20:56, while sophomore newcomer Cassie Lincoln (North Adams, Mass/Drury) was 173rd in 21:11. Sophomore Nicole Massoud (Fall River, Mass./B.M.C. Durfee) was the final scoring runner in 175th place, crossing in a time of 21:12.

Other Assumption finishers include freshman Bridget Ryan (Coventry, R.I./Coventry) in 207th place in 22:00, junior Megan Kasala-Hallinan (Worcester, Mass./Doherty) in 232nd place in 23:00 and senior Catherine Griffin (Columbia, Conn./East Catholic) in 238th place in 23:13.

The Hounds are back in action next Saturday, September 22nd as the team travels to Moore State Park for the Worcester City Championship.
