Elyse Rowland-Bauman enters her third season as the Assumption women’s volleyball coach in 2018.
In her second season, Rowland led the Hounds to a 5-18 overall record and a 3-11 NE10 Conference record, including fighting back from an 0-2 hole to take down Le Moyne 3-2. Senior Olivia Burke ranked seventh in the NE10 in blocks per set, while Kiki Romanik ranked ninth in assists per set.
In her first season at the helm, Rowland’s young team which didn't have any seniors went 5-19 overall, including a 3-2 comeback home victory over NE10 Runner-Up Adelphi. The Hounds ranked fourth in the NE10 in digs per set (17.7), eighth in aces per set (1.47) and junior Olivia Burke finished fourth with 0.96 blocks per set.
Rowland came to Assumption from Central Baptist College, where she served as the program’s head coach for the 2015 season. Prior to her time at CBC, she spent two years as a graduate assistant coach at Division II Christian Brothers University from 2013-2015. At Christian Brothers, Rowland helped lead the team to two consecutive tournament appearances and 31 wins in two seasons. During that time, she coached four All-Conference selections, one Freshman of the Year and one All-American.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, she also has four years of club experience, including serving as the head coach for the Memphis Volleyball Club from October 2014 - April 2015.
Rowland competed at Pace University from 2009-2012, she helped the team to an appearance in the Northeast-10 Championship Match and three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. A two-time Northeast-10 First Team All-Conference selection, she was also the league’s Libero of the Year in 2011 and 2012. In 2011, she was named as a Daktronics First Team East Region selection and a Third-Team All-American, while in 2012 she earned AVCA Division II All-East Region honors. She is currently second all-time in program history with 2,158 digs and owns the single-season record with 682 in 2012.
Rowland graduated from Pace in 2013 with her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and later earned his Master of Arts in Teaching in 2015 from Christian Brothers University.
