Worcester, Mass. (November 25) -- The Assumption College women's tennis team has signed Londonderry New Hampshire standout Cassie Burbine to join the program in 2014.
Throughout her high school school career, Burbine has compiled an incredible overall individual record of 79-5. Playing all of her matches at the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles positions, Burbine has earned a singles record of 40-2, while her doubles record stands at 39-3.
Her junior year was capped off by winning the New Hampshire state doubles championship, which was the first state title won in the history of the Londonderry high school tennis program. Burbine had an impressive run in singles as well, making it all the way to the semi finals before losing a hard fought match to the eventual champion. She will undoubtably be one of the favorites to take home both titles during her senior campaign this coming spring.
Head coach Dan Munsey had the following to say.
"I am so excited to welcome Cassie to the Assumption tennis program. Cassie is an outstanding all court player that possesses an athleticism, competitiveness and intelligence on the court that really separates her from other players. In addition to her incredible talent, Cassie has the personality, character and leadership qualities that any team in the country would want to center their team around. We are looking to build a championship program here at Assumption, and Cassie is going to make an immediate impact in moving us closer to that goal and be one of the centerpieces of our team for years to come. We are thrilled to have her"
