Greyhounds Drop 6-3 Final to New Haven

Woodbridge, Conn. (April 6) -- The Assumption College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 final to The University of New Haven on Saturday afternoon.

After falling behind 3-0 following singles play, Assumption rallied to split singles action for the 6-3 final. Freshman Cassy Waung (Bolton, Mass. / East Catholic) earned the first point for Assumption at number three singles with a thrilling 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 10-6 victory for the Greyhounds.

Sophomore Melanie McCauley (Charlestown, R.I. / Chariho) earned her second-straight win with a 1-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-8 victory at number five singles, while Allison Gorman (East Providence, R.I. / East Providence) also picked up a three-set victory with a 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 victory at number six singles.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Monday, April 8th at Regis College. The match will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
