Greyhounds Sweep American International in Conference Match

Worcester, Mass. (March 23) -- The Assumption College women's tennis team swept American International College, 9-0, in Northeast-10 Conference action on the campus of Assumption College on Friday afternoon.

In total, the Greyhounds dropped five games to the Yellow Jackets, with Abby Blaisdell (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) and Paige Gilet (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) earning 6-0, 6-0 victories. In No. 1 singles, Chrissy Lyons (Holden, Mass/Worcester Academy) picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory, while Meghan Hall (Pembroke, Mass./Notre Dame) won 6-1, 6-0. Melanie McCauley earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles. 

In doubles action, Lyons and Gilet won 8-0, while Allison Gorman and Erica Micciche (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) picked up an 8-1 victory.

The Greyhounds move to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Assumption returns to play on Sunday, March 25, as the team travels to Stonehill College to take on the Skyhawks. The match will begin at 11 a.m.
