McNeil Nets Four Goals in Conference Win Over Saint Mikes

Colchester, Vt. (April 2) -- The Assumption College women's lacrosse team defeated Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's College, 13-9, on Monday at Duffy Field.

Freshman Amy McNeil (Orange, Conn./Amity) led the Greyhounds with four goals, while junior Steph O'Rourke (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) added two goals and two assists. Classmate Michelle Santos (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) had three scores, while sophomore Michelle Monahan (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) stopped five shots in the victory.

Holding a 4-3 lead with 5:02 remaining in the half, Assumption scored the next nine goals to take a commanding 10-goal lead, as the Greyhounds tallied four goals in the final 3:22 of the first half and tacked on five more by 12:10 of the second half.

Saint Michael's closed the game on a 6-0 run, but could not get any closer, and fell 13-9.

Assumption improves to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in Conference play, while Saint Michael's falls to 3-5 and 1-4 in the league.

The Greyhounds return to play on Wednesday, April 4, as the team plays host to Southern Conn. State University. The game will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
