A.I.C. ends Hounds softball season in NE-10 playoffs

May 9, 2010 WEST HAVEN, Conn. --- Sophomore centerfielder ASHLEIGH ST. PETER (Gill, MA/Turners Falls) had three hits including a three-run home run to lead American International College past Assumption College, 7-4, in the Northeast-10 Conference postseason playoffs here Saturday/Sunday at the University of New Haven. The loss eliminated the Greyhounds from the double-elimination tournament and concluded their season at 26-20. American International is now 27-25. Lowrey pitches Hounds softball past Le Moyne in NE-10 playoffs

May 8, 2010 WEST HAVEN, Conn. --- Sophomore righthander JENNIFER LOWREY (Assonet, MA/Apponequet) scattered six hits and struck five to lead Assumption College past Le Moyne College in the Northeast-10 Conference postseason playoffs here Saturday at the University of New Haven. The win was the 300th in the 13-year career of head coach RALPH DE LUCIA (Franklin, MA). He is merely the second head coach in Greyhounds history with as many as 300 coaching victories in one sport, joining Alumni-Athletics Hall of Famer Joe O’Brien (321-195), who served as men’s basketball coach from 1967-85. Adelphi blanks Greyhound softball in NE-10 playoffs

May 7, 2010 WEST HAVEN, Conn. --- Junior lefthander LEIGHANN BELL (East Islip, NY/East Islip) pitched a four-hit shutout with nine strike outs as Adelphi University defeated Assumption College, 2-0, in the Northeast-10 Conference softball playoffs Friday morning at the University of New Haven field. Medeiros named NE-10 softball freshman of the year

May 6, 2010 WORCESTER, Mass. --- Freshman second baseman LAUREN MEDEIROS (Seekonk, MA/Seekonk) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference softball Freshman-of-the-Year in a vote of the coaches. Along freshman shortstop BRENNA MORRISSEY (Salem, MA/Lawrence Academy). she was named to the first all-star team and the all-rookie team. Sophomore righty JEN LOWREY (Assonet, MA/Apponequet) and senior catcher ERIN MURPHY (Sarasota, FL/Mooney) were named to the second all-star team, while junior first baseman AMY GORDON (Seekonk, MA/Feehan) was named to the third team.
