Easton, Mass. (April 30) -- Three members of the Assumption College men's tennis team were recently honored on the Northeast-10 All-Conference teams for their play during the 2013-2014 season. Sophomore Viljami Rahnasto (Vantaa, Finland) and freshman Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn./East Catholic) were named to the Third Team at No. 1 doubles, while freshman Marco Leung (Macao/The International School of Macao) earned All-Rookie Team honors. The All-Conference teams were voted on by the league's head coaches.
At No. 1 doubles, Rahnasto and Waung posted a 7-3 mark in Northeast-10 Conference play, along with an 11-6 overall record as the Hounds advanced to the team's first Northeast-10 Conference Tournament since 2009.
Leung, a four-time Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week and one-time Player of the Week, was named to the All-Rookie Team after a 12-1 mark in singles play in 2013-2014. Registering an 8-1 record in league play, Leung won his last 12 singles matches to close out the season dating back to the end of September 2013. He was a perfect 9-0 in No. 3 singles, along with a 3-1 record in the No. 2 spot. In doubles play, he was a combined 9-4 in No. 2 doubles play between two different playing partners.
Assumption finished the season at 9-8 overall and 5-5 in the Northeast-10.
