Easton, Mass. (April 20) -- The Assumption College men's tennis team has earned the No. 6 seed in the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Tennis Championship. The Hounds begin play on Tuesday, April 22nd as the team travels to No. 3 seeded Bentley for 2 p.m. first-round match.
Earlier this season, the Hounds dropped a 5-4 road final to the Falcons on March 19 as Assumption took a 2-1 edge in doubles play. Bentley came away with the win after taking four singles matches, with Assumption winning in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Among the Assumption players who were victorious is five-time Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week Marco Leung (Macao/The International School of Macao), who took a 6-7, 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 spot. Leung enters the Northeast-10 Tournament on a 12-match winning streak in singles, between playing in the No. 2 and No. 3 spot in the lineup.
Overall, Assumption finished the regular season at 9-7 overall and 5-5 in Northeast-10 play. The Hounds finished 5-1 at home and won four of their last five matches overall to clinch the program's first Northeast-10 Tournament spot since the 2009 season.
