Philadelphia, Pa. (September 23) -- Graduate student Matt Drolet (Cumberland, R.I. / Mount Saint Charles) and freshman Marco Leung (The International School of Macao) reached the semifinals of the Flight B doubles championships at the ITA Regionals, leading a successful showing for the Greyhounds over the weekend.
The Greyhounds won five matches over the weekend, highlighted by Drolet and Leung picking up a pair of wins in the doubles draw. In addition to his win success in doubles, Leung earned a 9-8 (7) win over Justin Vijungco of Adelphi University.
Transfer Viljami Rahnasto (Vantaa, Finland) continued the Greyhound success in the B Flight, earning an 8-3 victory over Nail Rachidi, a sophomore at Philadelphia University.
Freshman Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic) won a match in the A Flight, an impressive 6-3, 6-3 straight-set victory over Mike Wallace, a two-time Northeast-10 All-Conference honoree who went 17-5 last season.
The Greyhounds return to the courts on September 29th as Assumption will travel to North Andover, Mass. to take on the Warriors of Merrimack College. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m.
