WORCESTER, Mass. – Following an impressive 2018 season, four Assumption men's lacrosse players have been named New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-New England, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Three Hounds were named to the NEILA First-Team, junior attack Travis Reid (Raynham, Mass. / Bridgewater Raynham), junior goalie Colby Hamwey (West Yarmouth, Mass. / Wilbraham & Monson) and sophomore midfielder Brett Jennings (Montgomery, N.Y. / Valley Central). Junior Connor Reid (Raynham, Mass. / Bridgewater Raynham) was a Second Team selection as a face-off specialist. Merrimack's James Bassett was selected as the Player of the Year. Reid had a career season for the Hounds, registering a career-best 51 points in just 12 games. He had at least one point in every game, including eight contests with at least four points. His 51 points are the third-highest single-season total in program history. Reid also picked up 23 ground balls.
Hamwey started all 13 games in net for Assumption, posting a 7-6 record. He had a 9.52 GAA on the year with a 55.2 save percentage while averaging 10.7 saves per game. He made a career-best 19 saves with just three goals allowed in a win over Southern New Hampshire, as well as 17 saves in a 12-11 loss to Saint Rose.
Jennings finished third on the team with 23 goals and 34 points. He also dished off 11 assists to go with eight ground ball and two caused turnovers. He had at least one point in every game, including nine games with at least three points.
Reid appeared in all 13 games as the team's face-off specialist. He picked up 81 ground ballad n concluded the year, winning 53.1 percent of his face-offs with 153 victories. Reid's best game came against Post as he won 15 of 17 face-offs with 11 ground balls.
