Garden City, N.Y. (April 12) -- Assumption had its two-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday afternoon as the Greyhounds dropped a 16-6 final at Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Greyhounds fall to 7-5 overall and 3-4 in league play with the loss and remain in sixth place in the conference playoff race with three games remaining.
The Panthers finished 5-for-7 in man-up opportunities in the game, including four man-up goals in the first half as Adelphi built a 10-1 lead at the break. The Greyhounds scored in the first on a man-down opportunity as Connor MacNeil (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) found the net with 9:46 left in the first quarter.
Assumption was outscored by a 6-5 margin in the second half as the Greyhound offense posted a hat trick by senior John Murphy (Walpole, Mass./Bridgton) and two goals from senior Will Langevin (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle).
The Panthers had six players with multiple goals in the game as they improved to 9-1 overall and remained perfect in the league at 5-0.
Senior Scott Vogel (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) made 16 saves for the Greyhounds in net.
The Greyhounds are back in action on Saturday, April 16th as the team travels to Manchester, New Hampshire to take on Saint Anselm. The game starts at 2 p.m. at Grappone Stadium.
