Ice Dogs Earn Team Academic Excellence Honor

Easton, Mass. -- The Assumption College men's ice hockey team has been awarded the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Academic Team Excellence Award for the sport of men's ice hockey. As a team, the Ice Dogs boasted an overall team grade point average of 3.0. Across the Northeast-10, 57 percent of all league athletic teams boasted an average GPA of 3.0 or better.

The Ice Dogs had 12 student-athletes named to the Assumption College Student-Athlete Honor Roll for a GPA of over 3.0 in the Spring 2012 semester. In addition, five team members received the Director's Citation for a GPA of over 3.5, along with the Premier Student-Athlete Award being given to Jordan Sweigart (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) for a perfect 4.0 GPA. Sweigart is one of just six Assumption College student-athletes to earn that honor in the Spring 2012 semester.
