Assumption Drops Northeast-10 Finale at Stonehill

Foxboro, Mass. (February 18) -- The Ice Dogs wrapped up its Northeast-10 schedule with a 3-2 loss to Stonehill at the Foxboro Sports Center on Saturday. Assumption won the season series, 2-1, despite the loss.

Sophomore goaltender Bobby Bowden (Springfield, Mass./Williston Northampton) turned away 42 shots in the loss, while Tyler Jackson made 23 saves in the victory.

Assumption took a one-goal lead into the first intermission on a goal by Pat O'Kane (Hollis, N.H./Bishop Guertin), but Stonehill equalized the score in the second period on a goal by Bill Carey, leaving the teams even after two periods.

Assumption took the lead back on a goal by Keven Meehan (Melrose, Mass./Austin Prep), assisted by Nick Mattiello (Johnston, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) and Taylor Larsen (Blackstone, Mass./Worcester Academy), but Stonehill scored two unanswered goals over the final six minutes for the final margin.

Assumption falls to 12-10-1 overall, while Stonehill now stand at 9-11-2 on the season.

Assumption returns to the ice on Thursday, February 23rd for senior night at the Buffone Arena. Assumption will honor its seniors before a 7:35 p.m. game against Worcester State.
