Ice Dogs Suffer Setback Against Franklin Pierce University

Winchendon, Mass. (January 28) -- The Assumption College men's ice hockey team lost to Franklin Pierce, 4-2, despite two points from senior forward Taylor Larsen (Blackstone, Mass./Worcester Academy).

Larsen started the scoring at 5:38 into the first period his tenth goal of the season, assisted by sophomore forward Kyle Zobler (Millbury, Mass./New Hampton).

The Ravens answered back with eight seconds remaining in the period when Michael Carr beat senior goaltender Nick Blanchette (Stuart, Fla/Worcester Academy) for his seventh goal of the season. Franklin Pierce extended its lead on second period goals by Justin Adams and Pat Shortt, extending the lead to 3-1.

The Ravens pushed the lead to three at the 6:14 mark of the third period when Kyle Craig added his first marker of the season.

Ross White (Uxbridge, Mass./Uxbridge) added his seventh goal of the season for the Ice Dogs on a power play with less than two minutes remaining in the final period, assisted by Larsen and Keven Meehan (Melrose, Mass./Austin Prep).

Blanchette made 31 saves in the loss, while Dave O'Brien made 35 saves in the victory for Franklin Pierce. Assumption falls to 9-8-1 with the loss, while the Ravens improve to 4-9-4.
