Giovino Leads Hounds at Peter King Memorial Tournament
Riverhead, N.Y. -- At the Peter King Memorial Tournament at Long Island National Country Club this weekend, the Assumption College golf team placed eighth out of 13 teams with a two-day total of 657. The Greyhounds shot a 330 on day one before improved three strokes in the second round.
Leading the way for the Greyhounds was junior Rick Giovino (Medford, Mass./Central Catholic), who fired a two-round total of 156. Giovino shot an 82 on day, but followed that up with a team-best two-over-par 74 on day two. His 74 was the fifth-best second-round score as he finished tied for 12th in the tournament.
Finishing two shots back of Giovino was senior Ryan Myers (Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro) at 158, posting back-to-back rounds of 79 and was one of just 12 players to break 80 in both rounds. Rick Bylund (Auburn, Mass./Auburn) finished at 166 with rounds of 82 and 84, followed by John Solopertto (Charlton, Mass./Shepherd Hill) at 177 (87-90) and James Gloshinski at 187 (91-96)
