Easton, Mass. (April 22) -- Assumption College guard Kevin Donahue (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) has earned the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award. The award was voted on by a group of administrators from the Northeast-10 member schools and recognizes the top scholar-athlete in each sport.
Donahue, a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District honoree and Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honoree, led the team in scoring this season with 16.3 points per game to rank sixth in the Northeast-10. He was second in the Northeast-10 in three-pointers made with 80 and third in total points with 455.
For his efforts on the court, Donahue was honored as a Northeast-10 Second Team All-Conference selection. Academically, Donahue is a History/Education double major with a 3.42 cumulative GPA. He received the 2011 Fall Assumption College Student-Athlete Director's Citation for a GPA of 3.5 or higher and is a six-time member of the Assumption College Student-Athlete Honor Roll.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence award the student-athlete must have completed at least two consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment at their current institution and at least two years of athletic eligibility at any institution. In addition, the student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.30.
