Easton, Mass. (February 24) -- Assumption men's basketball senior guard Kevin Donahue (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) and captain Tim Beinert (Bellerose Village, N.Y./Holy Cross) have both been named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Teams, as announced by the league office and voted on by the league's head coaches.
Donahue was named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team after finishing the regular season ranked fifth in the league in scoring at 16.5 points per game. A six-time member of the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll and a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, Donahue posted 10 games of 20 or more points and has scored in double digits in 21 of 26 games this season. In addition to ranking fifth in the league in scoring, he also second in three-pointers made with 77 and fourth in total field goals made with 152.
Beinert, a two-time Northeast-10 Player of the Week and five-time Honor Roll honoree, earned Third Team All-Conference honors after finishing the regular-season averaging 15.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Beinert posted 21 double-digit scoring games, including five games of 20 or more points and two games of 30+. His best game of the season came in the regular-season finale as he finished with a career-high 35 points on 10-for-12 shooting from the field and a 15-for-15 showing at the free throw line, which was a single-game school record. Beinert ranks eighth in the Northeast-10 in scoring (15.2), third in rebounds per game (8.0), second in overall rebounds (209), third in free throws made (101), fifth in field goal percentage (57.0) and seventh in field goals made (146).
The Hounds open Northeast-10 Tournament play on Friday night, taking on No. 8 seeded Bentley at the Dana Center in Waltham, Mass. beginning at 7 p.m. The winner of that first-round matchup travels to top-seeded Franklin Pierce for a tournament quarterfinal on Sunday afternoon.
