Hounds Fall at Franklin Pierce by 76-48 Final

Rindge, N.H. (January 17) -- On Tuesday night, the Assumption men's basketball team dropped a 76-48 final to Franklin Pierce at The Fieldhouse in Northeast-10 Conference play. The game was the lone regular-season meeting between the two teams this season, with the Ravens now owning a 15-13 edge in the all-time series.

The Hounds jumped out to a 9-4 lead behind nine straight points from senior guard Kevin Donahue (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington). Franklin Pierce answered with a 15-5 scoring run though and at the nine-minute mark, the Ravens held a 19-14 advantage. A baseline jumper from Ryan Rozsnaki (Montreal, Quebec/Landstown) cut the lead to three before the Ravens put together a 19-4 run to take a 38-20 lead into the half.

Franklin Pierce extended the lead to 23 in the opening minutes of the second half before a quick 7-0 run made it a 51-35 score with 12:15 remaining. That was as close as the Hounds would get though as the Ravens came away with the 28-point victory.

Donahue, who ranks fifth in the Northeast-10 in scoring, led the Hounds with an 18-point effort.

With the loss, the Hounds fall to 7-9 overall and 5-7 in Northeast-10 play, while the Ravens improve to 12-4 overall and 8-4 in the league.

Assumption is back in action on Saturday, January 21 as the Hounds host UMass Lowell for a 3:30 p.m. start at Laska Gym. That game is available live online at www.assumptiongreyhounds.tv.
