Records: Assumption (10-8, 7-5 NE10), Franklin Pierce (10-7, 7-5 NE10)

Location: Worcester, Mass. (Multi-Sport Stadium)

The Lead: The Assumption College field hockey team was firing on all cylinders tonight as the defense made four consecutive stops on penalty corners in the second half, and freshman Deirdre Burchill (Braintree, Mass. / Braintree) scored the game winning goal to earn a 1-0 victory over Franklin Pierce on senior night.

- The game was evenly contested throughout the first half, as both team were held scoreless. Franklin Pierce goaltender Meaghan Williams made three saves in the half while the Assumption defense did not allow a shot to reach goaltender Sarah Bodzinski (Southwick, Mass. / Southwick Tolland Regional).

- Just 2:56 into the second half Burchill scored her second consecutive game winning goal to lift the Hounds to a 1-0 lead. Senior Allison Sheahan (Higganum, Conn. / Haddam-Killingworth) sent a hard pass to the middle of the circle where Burchill was open, firing the ball past Williams on the left side.

The Franklin Pierce offense put a lot of pressure on the Hound defense for the remainder of the half, but Bodzinski along with seniors Ashley Lockwood (Feeding Hills, Mass. / Agawam), Sheahan, junior Kolby Burger (Killingworth, Conn. / Haddam Killingworth), and sophomore Sam Tepper (Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg) did not allow a goal to solidify the win after the Ravens were awarded seven penalty corners.

- Bodzinki made three saves in her shutout while Williams made four saves in the loss. Assumption did not allow a penalty corner against them in the first half, but in the second half the Ravens edged them 7-1. The Hound offense outshot Franklin Pierce 9-7 overall.
