Field Hockey Shuts Out New Haven 6-0

THE BASICS:

The Lead: Sophomore forwards Courtney Sickel (Atkinson, N.H. / Timberlane Regional) , and Molly Quinlan (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) each tallied two goals to lead the Hounds to a 6-0 victory over New Haven on Wednesday evening. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Assumption scored twice in the opening 12 minutes to grab an early advantage. Shannon Quinlan (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville North) scored unassisted at 8:52 and then Sickel followed with her first goal of the season at 11:09.

- in the second half, Sickel deposited her second goal of the game in the 41st minute and Alexa Mulvihill (Westbrook, Conn. / Westbrook) tallied her first collegiate goal on a penalty off a feed from Kolby Burger (Killingworth, Conn. / Haddam Killingworth) to make it 4-0 at 52:14.

- In the final ten minutes of action, M. Quinlan scored a pair of goals for the 6-0 final margin.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Hounds defense did not allow a shot on net or a penalty corner while the offense produced 19 corners and peppered New Haven goaltender Natalie Shaker with 35 shots. Bridget Boyle (Stow, Mass. / Nashoba Regional) earned the win in the cage for Assumption.

UP NEXT
