Hounds Fall to No. 6 Ranked Merrimack in 3-0 Final

Worcester, Mass. (September 28) -- Under the lights on Wednesday evening, the Assumption College field hockey team dropped a 3-0 final to No. 6 ranked Merrimack in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Multi-Sport Stadium.

The Warriors held a 19-0 margin in shots on goal and found the back of the net twice in the first 12 minutes of the game. Jessica Otis and April Daugherty scored just 2:13 apart in the first period and Jamie Spano added an unassisted goal at the 42:30 mark to account for the 3-0 final.

Sophomore netminder Heather Philbrick (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) made 15 saves in the loss, while Kerri Bergquist earned the win in net for Merrimack.

Assumption falls to 1-8 overall and 1-4 in Northeast-10 play, while Merrimack sits at 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the league.

The Greyhounds are back in action on Friday night, hosting Saint Anselm for a 7 p.m. start at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
