One of the premier field hockey personalities in the Northeast region, Debbie Draper of Boylston, has been the field hockey head coach at the College for 12 years.
Draper, a 1980 graduate of Bridgewater State, owns an impressive resume of field hockey and athletics accomplishments. She came to the Greyhounds after a seven-year stay at Bentley College, where she directed the Falcons to a 55-61-14 overall record with three trips to the E.C.A.C. Division II New England regional tournament
In 1988, Draper led a youth-dominated team to the final of the E.C.A.C. Division II New England regional tournament and a 12-9 record. In 1989, the team overcame a slow start to post a 9-1-1 record in its final eleven games to earn another trip to the E.C.A.C.s and the 1990 squad reached the E.C.A.C. New England semifinals.
She has posted an 132-119 13-year record while at Assumption College including 1999's record-setting 17-4 mark. Her teams have played for four Northeast-10 Conference championships and played in five E.C.A.C. tournaments . . . winning the title in 1999. She is the winningest coach in Greyhound history.
Draper began her career at Tahanto Regional High (Boylston, MA) where she served as head coach from 1981-87. She has also worked as a field hockey goalie coach at WPI, where she coached the women's lacrosse team. She also coached the Greyhounds lacrosse team from 1998-2006.
While at Bridgewater State, Draper was a goalie on both the field hockey and lacrosse teams. She received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health with a concentration in Athletics Training.
