Bob Chesney begins his first season as the Assumption College football head coach in 2013. Chesney was named to the position on February 5, 2013.
Chesney came to Assumption from Salve Regina University, where he posted a 23-9 record during his three seasons as head coach. He coached 30 All-Conference selections, two All-Americans, 41 Academic All-Conference selections and one Academic All-American and his defense consistently ranked among the league and national leaders.
Most recently, Chesney guided his 2012 team to a 9-2 overall record and a perfect 5-0 mark at home. The Seahawks also advanced to the NEFC Championship Game after posting a 7-1 mark in league play.
In addition to the team’s work on the field, the Seahawks were recognized as the Child and Family’s Volunteers of the Year for their commitment to their foster home program and after-school homework club.
Prior to his arrival at Salve, Chesney worked as a member of the football staff at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. from 2005-2010. He began his time there as a defensive assistant and special teams coach for four seasons before being promoted to associate head coach in 2009.
Chesney’s other coaching experience includes time at King’s College (Pa.), Delaware Valley College (Pa.) and Norwich University (Vt.).
A 2000 graduate of Dickinson College (Pa.), Chesney earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. At Dickinson, he was a four-year varsity letter winner and a two-time All-Centennial Conference selection in 1998 and 1999. He was also the 1997 recipient of the Vincent Correal MVP Award and served as the team captain in 1999.

Paul McGonagle joins the Assumption College football staff in 2013 and will serve as the program's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach this season.
McGonagle was an integral part of an Endicott coaching staff for the past two seasons that led the program to a school-record 10 wins in 2011, set numerous offensive records and won back-to-back ECAC Championships. Specifically, McGonagle coached senior tight end Taylor Allen to a career high 35 receptions, 482 yards receiving, and six touchdowns. Allen went on to earn BSN All-American Third Team and NEFC Boyd Division First Team All-Conference honors before signing an undrafted rookie contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Before Endicott, McGonagle spent four years as the head coach at Fitchburg State University, where he coached one of the nation's top offenses with the NEFC's leading passer and running back. Falcons running back Marlon Thornton was named a four-time All-Conference running back, as well as an All-Star by the New England Football Writers Association and Offensive Player of the Year by the Worcester Area Football Association.
Prior to taking over as head coach of the Falcons, McGonagle spent two seasons as the offensive coordinator at Bentley University. During his tenure, McGonagle’s offense was number one in the nation in scoring offense at 46.4 points per game. He helped the Falcons to their first-ever Northeast-10 Conference Championship and NCAA II Playoff Berth as Bentley took on Grand Valley State, which was coached by Assumption alum Brian Kelly ’85.
In addition, McGonagle also served as offensive coordinator/recruiting coordinator at Stony Brook University, where the Seawolves captured their first-ever Northeast Conference Championship. He has had a vast array of coaching experience including stints at Bucknell University, Eastern Kentucky University and Northeastern University. He has coached numerous All-Americans, Offensive Players of the Year, All-Conference players and NFL Draft selections.
McGonagle, a 1999 graduate of the University of Kentucky, was a member of the Wildcat football team as a tight end and offensive lineman and was a teammate of former top draft pick Tim Couch. He received his Bachelor’s degree in sport management, with a minor in business, from the University of Kentucky in 1999 and later received his Master’s degree in sport administration from Eastern Kentucky in 2001.
He currently resides in Reading, Mass., with his three daughters Sophia (10), Isabella (8), and Ava (5).

Anthony Barese enters his sixth season as an assistant coach at Assumption in 2013. He serves as the program's defensive backs coach, as well as the recruiting coordinator.
A 2005 graduate of Saint Anselm College, Barese earned his Bachelor's degree in English with his teaching certification. After graduation, he served as the defensive line coach at Saint Anselm in 2006, along with serving as the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach in 2007. A two-year starter for the Hawks, he was a team captain his senior year.
Barese was the linebackers coach at Assumption from 2008-2012 before moving into his current role.

Chris Grautski joins the Assumption College football staff in 2013 as an assistant coach and will serve as the program's defensive line coach.
Grautski came to Assumption from nearby WPI, where he served as
the program's defensive line coach and strength and conditioning
coordinator for two seasons. Prior to that, he led the defensive
line and coordinated the strength and conditioning efforts at
Fitchburg State University.
No stranger to Worcester area football, Grautski was a four-year
starter on the defensive line at Worcester State and two-year
captain for the Lancers. He graduated from Worcester State in '09
with a degree in health and received his master’s from
Fitchburg State University in educational leadership and
management.

Bob Chesney, Sr., joins the Assumption College football coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2013 season and will serve as the program's senior consultant and director of player development.
The father of Assumption head coach Bob Chesney, he came to Assumption after serving as an assistant coach at Salve Regina University. As an assistant for the Seahawks, he worked first as the defensive line coach and then most recently as the running backs coach.
Chesney, Sr. brings 38 years of coaching experience to Worcester, including 21 as head coach. Prior to his time at Salve Regina, Chesney served as head coach at Mount Carmel Area High School in Pennsylvania – the winningest team in the state of Pennsylvania.
Chesney began his coaching career at North Schuylkill H.S. in 1971 and spent the next 27 years coaching at the high school level, highlighted by head coaching stints at Shamokin Area H.S. (1982), Our Lady of Lourdes Regional H.S. (1983-97), and North Schuylkill (1999-2001). He has also coached collegiately at Susquehanna University (1998), Delaware Valley College (2002), and King's College (Pa.) (2003-05).
A 1971 graduate of Lycoming College, Chesney taught mathematics at Ashland Elementary School from 1971-77 before moving on to teach social studies at North Schuylkill. He taught there for 29 years before retiring in 2006.
Chesney and his wife, Claudia, reside in Kulpmont, Pa. The couple has three children.

Jonas Jackson joins the Assumption College football staff in 2013 as an assistant coach and will serve as the program's linebackers coach.
Jackson came to Assumption from West Virginia Wesleyan University, where he served as the program’s head coach for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. He had joined the WVWU staff in 2009 as an assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator. During his two seasons as head coach of the Bobcats, he led the team to an overall record of 12-10 that included a 9-2 mark in 2011 and a national ranking. Overall during his two seasons, the Bobcats set 29 school records. Prior to his time as a coach at West Virginia Wesleyan, Jackson served as the defensive line coach at Division I Illinois State University in 2008.
A Boston native, Jackson went to La Salle after serving as the defensive graduate assistant at Temple. Prior to his stint at Temple, he served as head coach and defensive coordinator of the Elancout Templiers in the French Pro League in spring 2005.
Jackson worked as an assistant coach at Arizona Western College for three fall seasons (2002-04). During that stretch, he also served as an assistant coach at Wagner College from April to July 2004, and as a graduate assistant coach at Valparaiso from January to August 2003.
He was a two-year letterwinner at Eastern Michigan, playing tight end and defensive line, after earning an associate's degree at Arizona Western College. He received a bachelor of science degree in parks and recreation at EMU in August 2002 before earning a master's degree in sports administration at Valparaiso in May 2004.

Todd Parsons joins the Assumption College football staff in 2013 and will serve as the program's special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach.
Prior to Assumption, Parsons spent three years on coach Bob Chesney’s staff at Salve Regina University. After serving as offensive coordinator in 2010, Parsons was co-offensive coordinator in 2011 and 2012. He worked with quarterbacks in 2010 and 2012 and the offensive line in 2011.
In his three years at Salve, Parsons helped guide an offensive unit that garnered 12 All-Conference selections including two NEFC Offensive Lineman of the Year, three ECAC All-Stars, two All-New England selections, one Gold Helmet Award winner and two Division 3 All-Region Selections. In 2012, Salve’s offense set the school record for points in a season with 356.
As quarterbacks coach in 2012, sophomore quarterback Steve Wilken set school records for touchdown passes in a season (19) and single-season passing yards (2,164). He was also named as a Second Team All-Conference selection.
Parsons came to Salve Regina following three seasons as first a graduate assistant (2007-08) and later quarterbacks coach and assistant recruiting coordinator (2009) at McDaniel College. In 2009, he helped sophomore quarterback Thomas Massucci become just the second QB in McDaniel history to throw for more than 15 touchdowns in one season and the third to surpass 2,000 passing yards. As a result, he was one of 30 coaches selected to attend the 2009-10 NCAA Future Coaches Academy.
A member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Parsons was a four-year letter winner and standout quarterback at Averett University from 2003-06. He was a two-time All-Conference selection and an Academic All-Conference selection who guided the Cougars to four winning seasons and a conference championship. Parsons remains the school’s all-time leader with 42 touchdown passes and 4,848 total yards, and ranks second with 4,662 passing yards, including a career-high 361 yards against Maryville in 2006.
Parsons earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education and wellness in 2007 from Averett, where he also minored in coaching. He went on to earn his master’s degree in sports administration from McDaniel in 2009.
Parsons, resides in Newport with his wife, Lauren, who is the women’s volleyball head coach at Salve Regina University.

Matt Sidebottom, a 2011 Assumption graduate and four-year standout offensive lineman for the Greyhounds, returns for his third season as an assistant football coach in 2013. Sidebottom serves as the program's strength and conditioning coordinator, as well as the tight ends coach.
A two-time team captain for the Hounds, Sidebottom as the 2010 Northeast-10 Offensive Lineman of the Year and an All-Region selection as a senior. He was a two-time Northeast-10 First Team All-Conference selection, a three-time All-Worcester Area First Team All-Star and a Northeast-10 Second Team All-Conference honoree as a freshman.
Sidebottom graduated from Assumption with a Bachelor's degree in history and education and was a four-time selection to the Assumption College Student-Athlete Honor Roll.
Prior to Assumption, Sidebottom was a four-year member of the football and wrestling teamsat Franklin High School, serving as the team captain of each as a senior.
Sidebottom currently resides in Franklin, Mass.

Mike Vulcano returns in 2013 to serve as an assistant coach for the Assumption College football program and will work as a defensive line coach this season.
A graduate of Southern Connecticut, Vulcano graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and a minor in health education.
Prior to Assumption, Vulcano served as the head coach at Algonquin Regional High School in 2006-2007. His prior coaching experience includes working as the linebackers coach at Southern Connecticut in 1981-82 and the running backs/punters coach at Western Connecticut State University in 1982-83.
As a player at Southern Connecticut, Vulcano was a three-year starter at strong safety and linebacker and was a team captain as a senior. As a senior, he played for coach Kevin Gilbride, who is currently the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants of the NFL. In addition, his position coach was Paul Pasqualoni, former defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins of the NFL and current head coach at the University of Connecticut. Vulcano also had a free agent tryout with the Montreal Oulettes and the Tampa Bay Bandits.
Prior to college, Vulcano played as a post-graduate at Milford Academy in Connecticut and was the team captain and MVP at Brookfield High School in Connecticut.

Todd Warmington joins the Assumption College football staff as an assistant coach for the 2013 season and will work as the running backs coach.
Warmington came to Assumption from Fitchburg State University, where he served as the runnings backs coach for three seasons before being promoted to associate head coach in 2010.
Prior to Fitchburg, he worked as an assistant coach at Saint Anselm College (N.H.) for two seasons and also served as the running backs coach at Allegehny College (Pa.). During his time at Allegehny, he helped lead the Gators to an NCAA playoff appearance and the NCAC Conference Championship.
A 2003 graduate of Bucknell University, Warmington earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary education and history. He was a four-year letterwinner for the Bison football team and also a team captain. In addition, he earned his Masters degree in special education from Fitchburg State University in 2011.
He currently teaches in Chelmsford, Mass. and resides in Boston, Mass., with his wife, Katie.
