Three Hounds Named to Don Hansen All-Super Region One Team

Brookfield, Ill. (January 11) -- Three members of the Assumption College football team have been named to the 2011 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-Super Region One Teams, as announced by the Don Hansen Football Committee. Senior Sonny Dillinger (Naples, Fla./St. John Neumann) was named as a Second Team safety, while sophomore running back Matt Pedone (Holden, Mass./Wachusett) and senior linebacker Nick DiAntonio (Milford, Mass./Milford) each earned Third Team honors.

Dillinger, a Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team selection, was also named to the Worcester Area Football All-Stars First Team after finishing the season with 51 tackles to rank third on the team. Dillinger added 3.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions for 53 yards, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and a team-high three blocked kicks. His best game of the season came vs. then-No. 25 ranked New Haven as Dillinger finished with 12 tackles, including 10 solo stops. His 0.50 interceptions per game rank him 19th in the nation in that category.

Pedone was a First Team All-Conference selection after ending the season with 1,047 yards to rank second in the Northeast-10. He piled up four straight 150+ yard games to end the season, including a career-high 173 yards at Bentley. Pedone also finished up with eight rushing touchdowns and one receiving, including a 91-yard pass reception at American International that is the longest play in Assumption football history. His 104.7 rushing yards ranks him 19th in the nation as he finished the season with five 100-yard games.

DiAntonio was honored as the Worcester Area Football Defensive Player of the Year, a First Team Worcester Area Football All-Star, a Northeast-10 First Team All-Conference selection and a Daktronics Second Team All-Region honoree.  A team captain this season, ended his senior year with a career-high 106 tackles. Finishing up with 46 solo stops and 60 assisted tackles, he ranked second in the Northeast-10 in tackles at 10.6 per game and has ranked among the NCAA Division II national leaders all season.

DiAntonio posted a 21-tackle outing on October 1st vs. Southern Connecticut, tying the Assumption single-game record. In addition, his 21 tackles are the second-most in a game this season in Division II. He posted five double-digit tackle games this year, including a career-high four tackles for loss in his final game vs. Stonehill on November 12th. This season, DiAntonio finished with 10 tackles for a loss of 26 yards.
