Boston, Mass. -- Assumption College senior linebacker Nick DiAntonio (Milford, Mass./Milford) has been named to the New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team, as announced by the New England Football Writers. DiAntonio and the other honorees will be recognized at a dinner on Thursday, December 8th in Stoneham, Mass.
DiAntonio, a team captain this season, ended his senior year with a career-high 106 tackles. Finishing up with 46 solo stops and 60 assisted tackles, he ranked second in the Northeast-10 in tackles at 10.6 per game and has ranked among the NCAA Division II national leaders all season. DiAntonio posted a 21-tackle outing on October 1st vs. Southern Connecticut, tying the Assumption single-game record.
In addition, his 21 tackles are the second-most in a game this season in Division II. He posted five double-digit tackle games this year, including a career-high four tackles for loss in his final game vs. Stonehill on November 12th. This season, DiAntonio finished with 10 tackles for a loss of 26 yards.
DiAntonio, a Northeast-10 First Team All-Conference selection, will take part in the first annual Division II vs. NAIA Senior Bowl All-Star Game on December 3rd in Middletown, N.Y.
He ended his career with 156 total tackles, including 67 solo stops and 89 assisted tackles. DiAntonio also had three sacks, 11.5 tackles for a loss of 32 yards and eight career pass breakups.
