Assumption College's Brian Gordon Named Pre-Season All-AmericanAugust 3, 2004WORCESTER, Mass. --- Assumption College senior defensive tackle BRIAN GORDON (Quaker Hill, CT/Waterford) (6-foot-2, 255) has been named a pre-season all America as announced by Hansen's Football Gazette. The publication named just four players from the Northeast-10 Conference among its honorees. Bentley College's talented receiving duo of quarterback Mark Eddy and Dallas Mall and Merrimack College tight end Aaron Clark were also included. Gordon, who will co-captain the Greyhounds under first-year Coach CORY BAILEY, was named a first-team Northeast-10 Conference player last year and also earned the distinction of Defensive Player-of-the-Year of the Worcester Area Football Coaches. ?Brian is the prototype college football player," said Bailey. "He is first and foremost an outstanding athlete capable of performing at an all-region plateau at both defensive end and tackle. He possesses an incredible work-ethic, willing to do anything, physically and mentally, to improve; he is a very bright young man (majors in Biology) and he is a remarkably mature and personable individual.? He amassed (34-41) 75 tackles last year including an amazing 25 for loss (71 yards) with eight quarterback sacks, 16 quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles. The Greyhounds open preseason camp August 13 and open their 38th season of football September 11 at Stonehill College (1:30 p.m. kickoff) |
