Assumption College senior baseball standout MICHAEL COLEBROOK (Leicester, MA/Saint John’s) has earned an N.C.A.A. postgraduate scholarship and also been named a CoSIDA academic all-America. He is the 14th Greyhound student-athlete to be so honored. Greyhound student-athletes have won 14 of the total of 40 postgraduate scholarships earned by institutions in the Northeast-10 Conference. Bentley University, Southern Connecticut State University and the University of Massachusetts Lowell have each had four winners to rank second.

Assumption College two-sport Alumni-Athletics Hall of Famer Fred Barakat ’61 passed Monday. Mr. Barakat was also the retired associate commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference and a former head basketball coach at Fairfield University. He was a two-time all-America basketball player for the Greyhounds and was a territorial draft selection of the New York Knicks (NBA) and also had a professional baseball tryout with the San Francisco Giants and played five years in the Eastern Basketball Professional League.

Assumption College senior baseball righthanded pitcher TIM DUPUIS (Suffield, CT/Suffield High) is one of five signings of non-drafted free agents by the Washington Nationals. He is expected to be playing for the Gulf Coast Nationals (Gulf Coast League) based in Viera, Florida. He finished this past season 3-2 with an individual team-record 11 saves and a 3.77 earned run average and is the career closer for the Greyhounds with 28 saves (21 in the last two seasons).

Senior centerfielder DEREK MIGRANTS (Ayer, MA/Ayer) has been named the 2010 Daktronics East Region Player-of-the-Year in a vote of the region's Sports Information Directors and the National College Baseball Writers Association East Region Player-of-the-Year. Migrants is the second straight Greyhound to be so honored by both organizations following Mike Baillargeon.
