Baseball Falls to Bentley, 3-2

- The Lead: The Assumption College baseball team fell 3-2 today against Bentley University in NE10 Conference play at Rocheleau Field.


- Junior Kyle Chudoba (Oxford, Conn. / Oxford) started for Assumption on the mound today and pitched 5.2 innings allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and two strikeouts. Freshman Ben Lambert (Saco, Maine / Thornton Academy) came on in relief and tossed the remaining 3.1 innings, striking out four batters while surrendering a run on three hits.

- Assumption got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning when freshman Jared Brescia (Brentwood, N.H. / Exeter) led off with a walk and sophomore Hunter Tralli (Berlin, Conn. / Northwest Catholic) followed up with a single to centerfield. Senior Jake Byrne (Grafton, Mass. / Saint John's) then singled to leftfield, driving in Brescia from second base and giving the Hounds a 1-0 lead.

- Bentley tied the game at one run in the top of the second and took a 2-1 lead in the sixth, when a two out groundball turned into an error and allowed the inning to continue.

- In the bottom of the seventh, sophomore Kevin Quinlivan (Shrewsbury, Mass. / St. John's) led off with a triple to deep rightfield and Brescia forced an errant throw by the third baseman, allowing Quinlivan to tie the game at two runs.

- The Falcons regained the lead for good in the eighth, When Max Troiani was able to beat out a dribbler back to the pitcher and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After another single moved Troiani over to third, a sacrifice fly to centerfield brought him home to push the visitors to 3-2.



- Freshman R.J. Libby (Middleton, Mass. / Bishop Fenwick) had a career day, as he finished a perfect 4-for-4 with a double.

- Byrne went 2-for-5 with an RBI, while Brescia finished 1-for-4 with a walk, RBI and run scored.

- The Hounds out hit Bentley 12-9 and recorded the only two extra base hits on the day.


- The Hounds return to action Saturday when they take on Bentley for a single game at Rocheleau Field starting at 1:00 p.m.
