WORCESTER, Mass. – This Saturday the Assumption Baseball program will honor its youngest teammate by holding Ari "Danger" Schultz Day during its doubleheader against Saint Anselm, with first pitch is set for 12 pm.
The Hounds will dedicate the day's doubleheader to Schultz, who is currently in the hospital following serious complications from heart surgery last month. Schultz was signed by the team in the fall through team IMPACT, a nonprofit based in Boston which matches children with life-threatening and chronic illnesses to college athletic teams. To date, Team IMPACT has matched over 1,100 children to more than 450 colleges and universities nationwide.
The baseball team is selling wrist bands over the course of the week and on the day of the game to help raise money for the Schultz family, to help offset the extensive hospital bills which they've incurred. Those interested in purchasing wrist bands prior to Saturday can contact head coach Mike Rocco during the week. First pitch is scheduled for 12 pm as Assumption looks to make a playoff push over the final weeks of the year.
