Hounds Pick Up 4-3 Walkoff Win Over Deacons

Palm Beach, Florida (March 9) -- The Assumption College baseball team defeated Bloomfield College by a 4-3 final on Sunday evening in Florida as the Hounds improve to 1-2 on the season. The win is also the first at Assumption for first-year head coach Mike Rocco.

Sophomore Ronnie Sampson (Jefferson, Mass./West Boylston) went six strong for the Hounds as the game went into the ninth tied at 3-3.  Senior Bill King (Worcester, Mass./Holy Name) pitched the last three for the Hounds before the offense took care of the rest in the bottom of the inning. The eventual game-winning run came home in the bottom of the ninth as sophomore Tom Paine (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc) scored on a two-out RBI single from junior Billy Johnson (Auburn, Mass./Holy Name) to lift the Hounds to the win.
