Bradley Tosses Gem in Split at Pace University
Pleasantville, N.Y. (April 21) -- The Assumption College baseball team split a doubleheader against Pace University at Finnerty Field on Saturday. The Greyhounds dropped the first game of the doubleheader 2-1, before picking up a win in the second game 1-0, behind a complete game shut out by starter Dan Bradley (Moodus, Conn./Nathan Hale Ray).
In the second game Bradley worked the complete game, allowing just five hits, while striking out three. He was matched pitch-for-pitch by Pace starter Neil Pezzullo, who also worked a complete game, allowing one run on four hits while striking out 10.
The Greyhounds scored the only run of the game on an RBI single by junior shortstop Shane Keddy (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Tech), driving in Matt Consigi (Whitinsville, Mass./Northbridge).
In the first game, Ben Hastings worked seven innings, scattering four hits and one unearned run, striking out four in a no-decision. The Greyhounds lost 2-1 in 11 innings, as Pace starter Michael Tamburino worked all 11 innings for the complete game win. Consigli picked up two hits in the loss for Assumption.
The Greyhounds move to 10-21-1 on the season and will square off against Pace in the third game of the series at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
