Lauren Keating's sixth shutout eases Greyhounds women's soccer past A.I.C., 2-0, in Northeast-10 Conference action

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Junior goalkeeper LAUREN KEATING (Nashua, NH/Nashua North) made six saves to post her sixth shutout as Asumption College defeated American International College, 2-0, in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action FRIDAY night at the Multi Sport Stadium. Keating lowered her goals-against average to a stingy 0.89 in the process.
The Greyhounds have now won four of their last five games, losing only to sixth-ranked Saint Rose, and are now 6-5 overall and 6-4 in the Northeast-10 Conference (sixth place with 18 points). The Greyhounds six wins in 2009 have all come via the shutout route.
American International College is now 6-6-1 overall and 3-6-1 in conference action.
Senior midfielder KELLEY DE WALT (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) put the Greyhounds on the board in the first half as she converted a penalty kick at 16:05. The Greyhounds leading scorer now has four goals.
They would score and insurance goal in the second as senior forward KATIE DI CIOCCIO (Wappingers Falls, NY/Ketcham) converted a pass from sophomore defender CAT PANGIARELLA (Ludlow, MA/Ludlow) for her first goal of the season.
The teams each had 13 shots, while the Greyhounds had a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
The Greyhounds are next in action SUNDAY when they travel to non conference opponent L.I.U.-C.W. Post for a 1 p.m. game. American International College hosts Saint Rose in another conference game WEDNESDAY at 7 p.m.
