Greyhounds Jenny Mongeau Named All-America

Junior midfielder JENNY MONGEAU (Westboro, MA/Westboro) has been named to three all-American teams as selected by members of the media and coaches organizations.

She was named second-team all-American as selected by the members of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) . . . second-team as selected by laxpower.com and first-team by insidelacrosse.com. She had previously earned selection to the first all-star teams of both the Northeast-10 Conference and the IWLCA Northeast Region.

Mongeau was also named to the second-team CoSIDA academic all-America team.

She finished her season with 54 goals and 12 assists for 66 points and is the career scoring leader for the Greyhounds with 152 goals, 30 assists for 182 points. She is the career leader in goals and enters her senior season fourth on the assists. She has recorded at least one point in 39 of 41 career games and is the only Greyhound to have three 40-goal seasons and two 50-goal seasons.

She finished the season as the 16th leading scorer (4.13 pts/game) in the national Division II stats and sixth in goals (3.38 goals/game). She was third in goals, third in points, fourth in game-winning goals (4), fifth in ground balls (58) and third in shots (113) in the Northeast-10 Conference.

She earned National Player-of-the-Week recognition after leading the Hounds past American International (13-12) and Saint Michael's (12-11) in the final week of the regular-season. She scored five goals in each game ensuring that her team would qualify for the conference playoffs. She then scored with five seconds remaining to lift the Greyhounds past Saint Michael's (11-10) in the quarterfinals of the post-season playoffs.

This coming summer Mongeau will be in Australia from June 4-16, and will be playing a round-robin tournament against all-star squads representing Australia, Japan and Europe. The USA roster has 19 athletes from throughout the country.

Mongeau is pursuing a triple major in Biology, Chemistry and Math and owns an impressive 3.8 grade point average. She is expected to pursue a career as a medical doctor or focus on medical research---at the Center for Poison Control in Atlanta, GA. She is the daughter of Peter and Patty Mongeau of Westboro.
