Senior Ali Reyell Named All-America; Hounds No. 14 in Final National Poll
December 13, 2004
WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Assumption College women's soccer season continues to add to its already bulging trophy case.
The team has been ranked No. 14 in the final National Soccer Coaches /Adidas poll---their highest final ranking in the 16-year history of the program at the College.
And, its standout captain sweeper ALI REYELL (Worcester, MA/Doherty) has been named the program's initial first-team all-America, also by the coaches association.
The Greyhound advanced to its first-ever conference and N.C.A.A. regional final while posting an overall record of 15-6. The team won 12 of its last 15 games and allowed an amazing 88 shots on net in 21 games.
Reyell, the 'heart and soul' captain and leader of the team, was the major part of the No. 1 defensive team in the Northeast-10 Conference. She earned first-team all-conference honors in 2004, 2003 and 2002 and was a first-team (2004) all-New England selection (after earning second-team in 2003). In addition, she was named the Northeast-10 Conference Defender of-the-Year.
She was also a second-team CoSIDA academic all-region performer-- carrying a 3.91 GPA as a double Psychology/Spanish major. She is a candidate for an N.C.A.A. Post-Graduate Scholarship.
