Pace holds off Greyhound women's basketball, 66-60

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Sophomore forward
BRITTANY SHIELDS (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) scored
25 points and added 10 rebounds to lead Pace University past
Assumption College, 66-60, in Northeast-10 Conference women’s
basketball SUNDAY at the Laska Gym.
The game proved to be two games in one as the
Setters bolted to a 42 21 halftime lead behind Shields 15
points. In the second half the Greyhounds came to life
outscoring the Setters 39-24 to make it a game
down-the-stretch. Sophomore guard GABRIELLE
GIBSON (Amityville, NY/Copiague) had 12 of her 18 points
in the second half to lead the comeback while senior
forward/captain MOLLY GRIFFITH (Walpole,
MA/Ursuline Academy) (PICTURED RIGHT) added nine of her
team-high 19 points.
Gibson made one-of-two free throws with 36
seconds left to cut the deficit to three points (63-60).
Shields and senior forward BRITTANY HUGGINS
(Windsor, CT/Windsor) (10 points) made the free throws down
the-stretch to account for the six-point final.
The Greyhounds are next in action WEDNESDAY when
they travel to UMass Lowell at 5:30 p.m. Pace University is
at Franklin Pierce University also on WEDNESDAY.
