Merrimack stops Greyhounds in non-conference opener . . .

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Merrimack College defeated
Assumption College, 3-0, in the women's volleyball opener for both
teams THURSDAY night in the Laska Gym.
Junior middle blocker NICOLE
DUARTE (Windham, NH/Salem) had eight kills and sophomore
outside hitter NATALEE YEAZLE (Blaine, MN/Spring
Lake Park) added seven to pace a balanced offense for the
Warriors. Senior setter ELYSE LORENZ
(Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) contributed 14 set assists.
Defensively, senior defensive specialist had 13
digs and sophomore outside hitter SHAUNDA FORCIER
(Gonic, NH/Spaulding) added 10.
Freshman outside hitter LAUREN
OSTAFIN (Avon, CT/Avon) led the Greyhounds with seven
kills and 10 digs, while freshman setter KRISTIN
FLATEKVAL (Mahweh, NJ/Immaculate Heart) had 13 set
assists.
The Greyhounds are next in action at the Regis
College Tournament Saturday at Sunday. Saturday they will
play Rhode Island College, Framingham State and WPI Saturday and
Worcester State, Suffolk and host Regis Sunday. Merrimack
continues its four-game road to open the season at UMass Lowell
Saturday at 12 noon.
