S.N.H.U. rallies to defeat Greyhounds volleyball, 3-1

    WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior middle hitter STEPHANIE DLUGINSKI (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park Memorial) had 12 kills and freshman outside hitter ASHLEE DAOUST (Brookline, NH/Hollis-Brookline) added 11 kills and nine digs as Southern New Hampshire won three straight games en route to a 3-1 Northeast-10 Conference women’s volleyball victory over Assumption College THURSDAY night at the Laska Gym.
    Game scores: Assumption, 25-20 in the first game and then S.N.H.U. won three straight, 25-22, 25-12 and 25-12.
    Freshman outside hitter LAUREN OSTAFIN (Avon, CT/Avon) had 11 kills and 10 digs to pace the Greyhounds attack. Freshman setter JESS REIMERS (Okemos, MI/Okemos) had 16 set assists and freshman setter KRISTIN FLATEKVAL (Mahwah, NJ/Immaculate Heart) added 14 set assists. Senior defensive specialist CHRISTINA ACUNZO (Branford, CT/Sacred Heart) recorded a season-high 10 digs.
    Also playing well in support roles for the Greyhounds wre freshman outside hitter MARY JOHNSTON (Pearland, TX/Glenda Dawson) (8 kills, 5 digs) and freshman middle hitter RYAN MERLE (Skaneateles, NY/Skaneateles) (7 kills).
    The Greyhounds are now 6-7 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference. They play next in Philadelphia SATURDAY in a tri-match at Philadelphia Sciences with Wilmington, DE. Southern New Hampshire os now 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference action.
