WORCESTER, Mass. --- Senior forward/captain TOBIN HAASE (Southold, NY/Ridgewood, NJ) (PICTURED RIGHT) scored 21 points on eight-for-13 work inside-the-paint to lead Asumption College past the University of New Haven, 75-71, in Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball action WEDNESDAY night at the Laska Gym.
Senior forward/captain MIKE BALDARELLI (Sutton, MA/Holy Name) finished with 17 points and seven rebounds, while junior forward TOM BEINERT (Bellerose Village, NY/Holy Cross) ended with a double-double 14 points, 10 rebounds with four assists.  Sophomore point RYAN ROZSNAKI (Montreal, QUE/Landstown, VA) had seven assists.
Senior forward ROBERT JAMERSON (Forestdale, MD/Bishop McNamara) led the Chargers with 22 points, mostly in the paint, while freshman forward KRYSTIAN FORIEST (Bronx, NY/Wings Academy) (13 points), freshman guard JUSTIN EXUM (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian, NY) (11 points) and sophomore guard MIKE STYS (Hookset, NH/NH/Manchester Central) (11 points) played well in support roles.
Sophomore guard MIKE AURIEMMA (Manchester, CT/East Catholic/The Hun School) drilled a straight-away three-pointer to lift the Greyhounds to a 25-20 first-half lead with 9:28 left.  Foriest then hit a three-pointer and a tip-in off an offensive rebound to tie the game for the Chargers.
The Greyhounds then went on an 8-1 run, keyed by two Haase inside moves, to lead by seven points (33-26) with 5:12 left.  When Haase drilled a wing three-pointer and sophomore guard BOBBY HARRIS (Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional) converted a steal into a layin the Hounds had their largest lead of the half (44-33) with 46 seconds left.  A tip-in by senior center SHAWN USTUNEL (Commack, NY/F.M.V. Private Isik) accounted for the halftime (44-25) Greyhound advantage.
New Haven rallied to take the lead once again in the second half as Foriest drilled a three-pointer and Jamerson made a layin from Foriest with 11:01 left the Chargers led, 55-54.
The game would seesaw until the final moments.  A layup by Stys put the Chargers in front 68-65 with 3:49 left.  But the Hounds came right back as Baldarelli got an offensive rebound to go and freshman guard CORY SCHMIDT (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) converted a drive and ensuing free throw to put the Hounds in front, 68-66 with 2:42 left. Jamerson tied it with a move to the basket with 1:51 left.
A layup by Beinert and a three-pointer by Foriest made it 71-70 New Haven before the Hounds made five-of-six free throws in the final 40 seconds to account for the four-point final margin.
Assumption is now 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference.  They are next in action at conference rival Adelphi SUNDAY at 3:30 p.m.  New Haven is now 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
