Eckerd rallies to defeat Greyhounds men's hoop, 79-75

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. --- Eckerd College
rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to defeat Assumption
College, 79-75, in the Palm Beach Atlantic Tournament (mixer) here
SATURDAY at the Rubin Arena.
For the Greyhounds it was a contrast in
halves. In the first 20 minutes the Hounds rained
three-pointers led by senior forward/captain MIKE
BALDARELLI (Sutton, MA/Holy Name). The team made
10-of-22 from beyond the arc with Baldarelli making all five of his
attempts to propel the Hounds to a 42-35 edge. In the second
half they made just two-of-14 attempts.
Baldarelli finished as the game-high scorer
with 23 points, while sophomore guard BOBBY HARRIS
(Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional) (PICTURED RIGHT) ended with
17 points and senior forward/captain TOBIN HAASE
(Southold, NY/Ridgewood, NJ) with 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Tritons were paced by four double-figure
scorers: senior forward LANCE KEARSE (Fort
Myers, FL) (17 points), senior forward DALE CARN
(Jacksonville, FL) (15 points, nine rebounds), senior guard
JOHN HARPER (Orlando, FL) (13 points) and
sophomore guard WOODY TAYLOR (Winter Springs, FL)
(10 points).
The Greyhounds, now 2-2 overall, are next in
action TUESDAY when they host Northeast-10 Conference rival
University of New Haven at 7:30 p.m. in the Laska Gym. Eckerd
is now 4-1 overall.
