Larsen keys Ice Dogs past S.N.H.U., 6-5, in NE-10 action

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Junior center
TAYLOR LARSEN (Blackstone, MA/Blackstone/Worcester
Academy) scored a goal and added two assists to lead Assumption
College past Southern New Hampshire University, 6-5, in a
Northeast-10 Conference men’s ice hockey game SATURDAY night
at the Buffone Rink.
Larsen, who leads the conference in scoring,
now has seven goals and eight assists for 15 points.
The win, the team's third straight, improves
the Ice Dogs record to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference
standings. Southern New Hampshire is now 1-3 overall and 0-1
in the conference.
Junior defenseman KEVIN
GLANZMAN (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) (PICTURED
RIGHT), the conference leading scoring defenseman (3-5--8),
opened the scoring for the Ice Dogs with a power-play goal at
7:02. Larsen and senior left wing PATRICK
FITZGIBBONS (Worcester, MA/Saint John’s) assisted on
the play.
Just 11 seconds later the Ice Dogs struck again
as sophomore left wing CURTIS SERNOSKIE (Ottawa,
ONT/Saint Joseph’s) scored with sophomore center
KEVEN MEEHAN (Melrose, MA/Austin Prep/Tilton
School) and sophomore right wing JAIME VONA (West
Seneca, NY/Saint Francis) assisting at 7:13.
Larsen scored on the power play from junior
right wing PATRICK O’KANE (Hollis, NH/Bishop
Guertin/Williston-Northampton) at 11:23 to make the score 3-0.
The Penmen got on-the-board with eight seconds
left in the period as sophomore forward CRAIG
CARBONNEAU (Medford, MA) scored his first goal of the
season. Senior forward ADAM ZIEGLER
(Medford, MA) and sophomore defenseman MICHAEL
ROTONDI (Winchester, MA/Northampton) assisted.
Each team scored twice in the middle period as
sophomore KYLE ZOBLER (Millbury, MA/Millbury/New
Hampton Prep) and freshman forward ROSS WHITE
(Uxbridge, MA/Uxbridge/Winchendon School) each scored for the Ice
Dogs, while senior forward WILLIAM TOOMEY
(Reading, MA) and senior defenseman NEIL ADAMS
(Gardner, MA/Middlesex School) scored for the Penmen.
Fitzpatrick scored from Larsen and Glanzman
which proved to the eventual game-winner on the power play at 6:21
of the third period.
Junior goalkeeper NICK
BLANCHETTE (Stuart, FL/Worcester Academy) made 31 saves
for his third win.
Assumption is next in action at Saint
Michael’s College in another Northeast-10 Conference matchup
at the Cairns Arena in South Burlington, VT at 7 p.m.
Southern New Hampshire hosts Suffolk University in a non-conference
game TUESDAY at 7:30 p.m.
