Ice Dogs top Southern New Hampshire, 8-3

Manchester, NH -- The Ice Dogs of Assumption snapped their losing streak in resounding fashion with an 8-3 victory over the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire Saturday afternoon at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

Sophomore center Keven Meehan (Melrose, MA/Austin Prep) led the charge for Assumption with two goals and two assists. Sophomore forward Dave Maiocco (Medford, MA/Arlington Catholic) had four assists, while freshman defender Nick Mattiello (Johnston, RI/Bishop Hendricken) had two goals and an assist. Freshman defender Mike Janson (Ridgewood, NJ/Bergen Catholic) scored the eventual game winner 13:27 into the second period. Junior goalkeeper Nick Blanchette (Stuart, Fla./Worcester Acad.) had 18 saves playing the entire game.

For the Penmen, junior forward Doug Boulanger (Beauport, Quebec) had two goals on the afternoon.

Assumption is now 8-11 with a 3-4 record in Northeast 10 conference action. They have six games remaining, the first coming on Tuesday, February 1 as the host Salve Regina at Buffone rink. Southern New Hampshire visits Saint Michael's, also on Tuesday.
